Macquarie Investment Management (MIM) offers investment management across a number of asset classes including equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities, infrastructure securities, real estate securities and fund of funds. It delivers a full service offering to both retail and institutional clients in Australia and the US, with selective offerings elsewhere.
This role will be reporting directly to both the Head of Research and the Head of Investments. We are seeking a senior hire (Director level) for a Head of China Asian Listed Equities within one of the world's top 50 largest asset managers. Based in Hong Kong, the ideal candidate should have (minimum 7 years) bottom-up fundamental buy-side experience (hedge fund or long-only) and a proven performance track record (as lead or co-lead manager or senior member of a team). We are looking for an individual that can mentor the China analysts and lead a team of analysts and assistant PMs primarily focused on HK/China(H) across all the Asia equities strategies and segregated accounts.

Buy-side experience essential;
High conviction approach, articulates a clear view, very good communicator;
Attention to detail, resilient, result driven and performance focused;
Experienced, accountable and responsible;
Language skills, Mandarin & English essential;
Bachelor degree education level in accounting, finance or economics preferred;
Functions of the role include:
Very high level meetings with corporate management CEO, CFO, Chairman/women of listed companies;
Responsible and accountable for stock selection within the China portfolio(s);
Bottom up fundamental analysis, mentoring analysts; present new ideas with conviction;
Analysis of corporate governance risks;
Leading a team to co-ordinate desktop research including preparation of financial models;
Reading annual reports and prospectuses (fundamental analysis);
Extensive travel presenting to clients, conducting high-level pitches.
Detailed Excel modelling of historic earnings and forecast accurately future earnings potential;
Can work with the Investment Strategist forming views on key China macro risks;
