The University of California, Merced is the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the first American research university built in the 21st century. With a little more than 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students, UC Merced offers an environment that combines a commitment to diversity and inclusion, sustainability, and supports professional development. With undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs, partnerships and community involvement, the UC Merced campus is continually evolving, requiring talented, knowledgeable and dynamic educators, researchers, management and staff.
Ranked among the best public universities in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, UC Merced is uniquely equipped to provide educational opportunities to the San Joaquin Valley and to expand access to qualified students throughout the state of California. The campus also enjoys a special connection with nearby Yosemite National Park, which educates and inspires environmental advocacy and social change through our premier student environmental Yosemite Leadership Program.
In Fall of 2016, UC Merced broke ground on a $1.3 billion public-private partnership that is unprecedented in higher education, nearly doubling the physical capacity of the campus and enhancing academic distinction, student success and research excellence. The four-year Merced 2020 Project will add three new academic buildings, four new lecture halls, dedicated space for student life and clubs, a conference center for community and campus events and an expansion of the childhood education center.
In late 2017, UC Merced will open a new Downtown Campus Center (DCC), a new $33 million, 3-story administrative building in the heart of Merced, increasing the economic vitality of the downtown area and creating new opportunities for collaboration between the university and the community.
