Chapman University seeks applications for a Project Archivist in the Sala and Aron Samueli Holocaust Memorial Library and Leatherby Libraries. The Sala and Aron Samueli Holocaust Memorial Library and Leatherby Libraries Project Archivist is responsible for the description, preservation, arrangement, intellectual control, promotion, and creation of finding aids for artifacts and documents donated to the Samueli Holocaust Memorial Library and the Rodgers Center for Holocaust Education at Chapman University, focusing primarily upon the Oskar Schindler Archive.
The Project Archivist manages these donations, and provides outreach utilizing social media outlets in order to create awareness of items received. The Project Archivist may also work with the Long Term Digital Preservation Committee of the Leatherby Libraries to best utilize the university's Digital Commons and the Digital Archives of California to increase access to these donations for research purposes.
Additional duties include promoting the donations' importance in Holocaust and world history by establishing productive academic relationships through the provision of reference assistance to scholars, researchers, faculty, students, and the general public. Acts as registrar for material that is loaned to researchers, and handles all risk management and exhibition loan form requirements in consultation with the Director of the Sala and Aron Samueli Holocaust Memorial Library, Coordinator of Special Collections & Archives, and the Chair of Collection Management. Other duties as assigned.
This assignment is limited-term and may be considered for up to one (1) year based upon available funding.
