Summary of Opportunity:
The Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, Department of Radiology announces the search for a BC/BE Interventional Radiologist to become a part of our Faculty.
The selected individual will join a vibrant faculty of 6 established, academic, full time IR physicians and two full time IR physician extenders who cover three separate sites including Temple University Hospital, Fox Chase Cancer Center and Jeanes Hospital.
Fox Chase is a Nationally recognized NCCN cancer center and fosters a vibrant IO practice in Northeast Philadelphia. Jeanes Hospital is an acute care community hospital that borders the cancer center. Temple University Hospital is an over 700 bed, tertiary care, academic teaching facility located in north Philadelphia.
There are 4 angiographic suites at Temple University Hospital with one of the older rooms slated for renovation and installation of new state of the art, robotic angiographic suite in fiscal year 2017. 11 holding bays and dedicated IR only nursing and technology staff rounds out the IR department. There are three additional flat panel Siemens angiographic suites split between Fox Chase and Jeanes.
The dynamic IR division has extensive expertise performing more than 8000 procedures annually. Each individual IR faculty have varying areas of clinical focus and research. Academic opportunities exist and are encouraged for successful candidates with interest in publication and research.
This position is 100% IR and the successful candidate would be part of a rotating busy and thriving clinical practice performing a wide range of procedures including interventional oncology, pain management, uterine artery embolization, GI/GU intervention, TIPS, venous access, peripheral vascular disease and CT/US guided biopsy, drainages and ablation treatments. The IR division also has an active inpatient admitting service and growing outpatient clinic and consult service.
In addition to candidates' technical proficiency, faculty is expected to provide excellent education to a diverse body of medical students, residents, and future fellows. The radiology department boasts an outstanding residency program, consisting of 24 diagnostic radiology residents (6 per year). Recently, the radiology department and IR division have been approved for an Integrated IR Residency Program and are actively recruiting applicants in this year's upcoming residency match.
Qualified candidates must possess a DO, M.D. or M.D. /Ph.D. and have completed an ACGME accredited residency. The successful applicants will also be ACGME accredited fellowship trained in Interventional Radiology.
Candidate must have active board certification in radiology and board eligibility or certification in interventional radiology. Ability to obtain medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and credentials that will qualify for a faculty appointment at the level of Assistant Professor also required.
