Exciting opportunity for talented communications professional to take the next step at Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA), a national trade association located in Washington, DC. The Director, Communications & Media Relations, is a key member of the Communications department and serves as a consumer healthcare communications expert working with multiple audiences and stakeholders, including media, third-party organizations, policy makers, members, PR agencies, and consumers. This position serves as initial media contact and point person in managing the CHPA response to news, events, issues, and crises as they arise. He/she will write and edit a variety of materials on behalf of the organization, working with staff, members, and third party groups to develop positions, talking points, and press materials on issues of importance to industry.
This position also develops and oversees the implementation of multi-year, multi-media educational and advocacy campaigns, targeting both consumers and policymakers, around issues of key concern to the OTC industry. The Director will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and outcomes of various campaigns across different media, including drafting and editing campaign content and managing campaign-related communications with PR agencies, allied partners, members, and staff.
