Involves managing or performing the administrative services or managing the full general operations of an academic or non-academic organization(s). Administrative services include activities in finance and human resources and may also include IT, facilities, or student services. General management includes long and short range strategic planning in determining the mission and directing all activities of multi-disciplinary departments through subordinate management staff.
Provides advice to the Dean of the Arts, acts for the Dean in his/her absence, and serves as the Dean's and the division's primary representative in liaison with other campus functions on a wide range of academic and administrative issues. The incumbent supports short and long range planning for the Division and its programs through advice in strategic planning to the Dean, Chairs and Directors and through management of the administrative staff in the division in support of academic plans and administrative effectiveness. Acting with executive authority delegated by the Dean, and with a high degree of independence, the Assistant Dean makes resource allocations and other management decisions for the ongoing operations of the Division.
The Arts Division offers technical training, aesthetic development, and historical, theoretical, and critical studies in art, history of art and visual culture, dance design/technology, drama, film and digital media, digital arts and new media, games and playable media, and music to all undergraduates as well as to undergraduate majors and graduate students. The division is comprised of departments and programs of study, organized research units, instructional and research programs to attract and retain a diverse population of students, and a variety of support programs and facilities.

Excellent skills to work collaboratively and act persuasively in sensitive situations; skills in conflict management techniques.
Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; accounting and payroll.
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and influence others and develop and maintain high standards of customer service.
