The Clinical Training Unit (CTU) is an interdisciplinary program that provides training, research, and exemplary services in the assessment and treatment of children with or at risk for developmental disabilities, using a family-centered, community-based, culturally competent approach. It is part of the Center on Human Development and Disability (CHDD) which is one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive interdisciplinary research and training centers focusing on a wide array of developmental disabilities.
CHDD has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary, Part-Time Social Worker 2.
Definition of Position: As a member of a health care interdisciplinary team, provide social work services and care coordination of medically complex children and their families who attend the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Clinic and the Down Syndrome Specialty Clinic at the University of Washington Center on Human Development and Disability (CHDD).
Responsible to: the Director of the Clinical Training Unit (CTU).
Days/hours: Tuesdays, 8 hours/week.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Reviews medical records and interviews parents/guardians for psychosocial issues that may be contributing developmental outcome. 2. Administers trauma screener in parent and/or child. 3. Participates in treatment planning conferences. 4. Provides clinical assessment and intervention in interdisciplinary clinics. 5. Partners with the Clinic Director to support clinical research programs. 6. Supervises trainees in evaluative, treatment, and consultative activities. 7. Participate in practicum instruction of social work graduate students.
Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Follow-up Clinic: Perform social work services in the context of an interdisciplinary team for risk assessment and developmental follow up of children from one year of age designated at high risk due to history of congenital heart defect and for Down Syndrome, and their families.
1.A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the council on Social Work Education AND two years of full-time professional social work experience in a health-care setting eligible to begin social work practicum instruction for the School of Social Work.
3.Training or Proficiency in EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Legal Requirement - Registration as a Counselor by the State of Washington within 30 days of employment. Licensure as a Social Worker by the State of Washington or become licensed within one year of employment.
Experience in Early Childhood or in an Infant Mental Health setting.
