| Position Summary: |
The candidate will serve as a Research Dental Hygienist at the Center for Craniofacial and Dental Genetics, primarily assigned to the Orofacial Cleft Study (OFC), a study of the genetics of cleft lip and palate. Responsibilities include performing all aspects of the dental-related portion of the study including obtaining dental impressions from research participants, pouring dental casts and intraoral photography at the Pittsburgh site. Other job responsibilities include conducting other study protocol assessments, participant visit set-up and post-visit procedures, associated paper and electronic record-keeping, and assisting the research program manager and research study coordinator with other research related tasks, as needed. The candidate will also perform dental cast 3D scanning and image processing, some basic research data rating and other job duties, as assigned. The position requires some light overnight travel with the OFC2 research team to collaborating data collection sites. Some evening and weekend hours may also occasionally be required to accommodate research participant visits.
A qualified candidate must have good organizational, communication, and computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel required; proficiency in Microsoft Access is preferred). This position includes frequent contact with research subjects, internal & external faculty, and staff.
This individual must be able to exercise confidentiality, discretion, and a professional demeanor. This individual must be willing to occasionally travel out of state and overnight to assist with data collection during research trips. This position requires an Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene, an active Dental Hygiene license in the state of Pennsylvania, and at least 1-2 years of experience working in a dental practice. Hiring Range: $30,732.00 - $49,296.00
