Posting Summary: University Transit Service (UTS) at the University of Virginia's Department of Parking and Transportation is searching for reliable Part-Time Transit Bus Drivers. The Part-Time Transit Bus Driver works within the University Transit Service to provide transportation services to the University of Virginia Community. Duties include operation of a transit unit on a fixed route as well as transit operation in support of University-wide events. Work hours are no more than 28 hours per week.

Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Preferred Specific Experience: At least 8-20 months of experience as a fixed-route transit bus driver or over-the-road charter bus driver is preferred. Considerable customer service experience is highly preferred.
Required License or Certification: Valid Driver's License. Must possess a good driving record, that is, possess a zero or positive point balance on license. Must be willing and able to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passengers and Air Brakes endorsements within the first 30-45 days of employment.
Preferred License or Certification: Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with Passengers and Air Brakes endorsements, with a good driving record reflected by possessing a positive point balance on license.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of highway regulations; effective verbal and listening communications skills; time and stress management skills; ability to read and write in the English language to record and maintain daily route records; ability to understand, follow, and execute verbal instructions through two-way radio communications; ability to provide friendly customer service and conduct positive, courteous and respectful interaction with the public.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to operate a transit vehicle. Knowledge of University Transit service routes and procedures.
Required Computer Applications: Working knowledge of basic computer skills.
Preferred Computer Applications: Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook; ability to access, read, and apply basic working knowledge of computers to respond to e-mail and interact with payroll software.
