The Department of Biomedical Sciences of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Physiology. The CMSRU Department of Biomedical Sciences is composed of faculty with broad interests in biomedical research and medical education and is dedicated to excellence in innovative teaching, research and service to community. The Biomedical Sciences faculty works closely with Cooper University Hospital to develop basic and translational research in areas of clinical relevance, with an emphasis on Cancer, Inflammation, Bone and Joint Disease and Neuroscience. Applicants with interests in these areas are especially encouraged to apply, however, all applicants will be considered.
Although the primary focus of these positions is on medical education, faculty members are expected to develop independent research programs and seek external funding. Preference for these positions will be given to candidates with documented teaching experience at the graduate and/or medical school level and an M.D., Ph.D. or equivalent is required. Teaching formats include large-group lecturing, small-group active learning and practical application sessions and experience with clinical case-based, team-based and self-directed active learning methodology is highly desirable. Other teaching activities include assisting in the development of scholarly projects, advising and mentoring students, and participation in student assessment as well as development of and participation in personal scholarship, service on departmental, college, and university committees and participation in community outreach service programs.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills are also required.
