Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Anthropology with specialization in Anthropological Archaeology. We welcome applicants whose expertise includes Bioarchaeology. We seek a dynamic and broadly trained scholar to enhance our research and teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
Requirements for this position are a Ph.D. in Anthropology, or a related field, in hand by the time of appointment; and demonstrated promise of effective teaching, excellence in scholarly publication, and potential to secure appropriate external funding. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Anthropological Archaeology to a diverse student population. The teaching load is two courses per semester during the probationary period.
Finalists will be asked during their screening interview to discuss how the topics of diversity and inclusion are incorporated into their teaching and research.
Minimum Experience / Education:
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Specific research, teaching, and student engagement within the field of Archaeology could include bioarchaeology. Geographical area is open, with preference given to scholars who will complement the department's current strengths. We welcome candidates whose experience in teaching, research and community service has prepared them to contribute to the university's commitment to diversity. Desirable qualities also include previous university teaching experience and the ability to contribute to the university's General Education curriculum.
