Reporting to Director of Investigations, this position is responsible for conducting investigations of allegations of violations of the University’s non-discrimination policies, including the prohibition of discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, disability, genetic information, and/or protected veteran status, including discrimination-based violence such as sexual misconduct, stalking, and intimate partner violence, involving members of the University of Missouri community.
The Equity Consultant will conduct prompt, thorough and equitable investigations, which may include: identifying and interviewing witnesses, gathering and securing relevant documentation, and analyzing and synthesizing information gained through the investigation process and composing a final report detailing the information obtained.
The Equity Consultant will provide thorough information to complainants and respondents, including details regarding the policies and procedures; evaluate the nature and the urgency of each situation and determine the appropriate course of action, notifying the Director of Investigations, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Civil Rights & Title IX and other stakeholders/administrators when appropriate; collect intake information from a diverse complainant population in an efficient and supportive manner demonstrating sensitivity to cultural issues; refer parties to necessary resources and coordinate such referrals with those agencies and departments; establish and maintain case files and databases; and provide regular updates to the Director of Investigations and proper notification to the Appropriate Administrative Officer. The Equity Consultant is also responsible for auditing each case file for compliance and required documentation and reporting problems to the Director of Investigations.
The Equity Consultant may assist in audits and review of University policies, practices, and departments to enhance inclusion and diversity practices, ensure compliance with anti-discrimination laws, and reduce bias.
