The Hotchkiss History and Social Science Department is seeking, for the 2017-2018 school year, a highly qualified, dynamic, and innovative person who is both knowledgeable and deeply thoughtful about history, the humanities, and pedagogy. Responsibilities will include teaching History in the interdisciplinary 9th and 10th grade Humanities program and, in time, in the upper-level elective program. Candidates who can teach broad range of subjects in the Humanities and Social Sciences, are ideal. Some background in non-Western history would be welcomed.
This position includes the possibility of department leadership.

Members of the Humanities and Social Sciences department actively collaborate in innovative curriculum design, pedagogy, and assessment. The standard teaching load is four sections of history. The applicant will be expected to participate in community life through service in our residential, advising and co-curricular programs.
