Job Description Summary:
The Director of Disability Support and Success will lead and coordinate effective disability services including determinate of appropriate documentation and accommodations. Lead academic support initiatives, including but not limited to Peer Tutoring services. The position reports to the Vice President for Student Success and will perform the following duties:
Coordinate effective disability support services including review of student documentation, identification of appropriate accommodations, oversight of testing policies, procedures, logistics, and operations for the division, and the need for adaptive technology and equipment.
Coordinate, assess, and advance the Peer Tutor Program to address the ever changing needs of the diverse student population though research, supervision and data analysis.
Lead the University in its effort to cultivate awareness and appreciation of individuals with disabilities through efforts including but not limited to chairing the accessibility committee, leading Disability Awareness Week, and chairing the Tunnel of Consciousness.
Implement effective active and passive academic success programming through workshops, digital signage, app suggestions and targeted communication to support students' academic success at Maryville.
Research, maintain awareness, and educate the campus community on emerging trends in disability support in higher education.
Prepare and analyze data pertaining to Disability Support and Peer Tutor programs as a means to further advance the initiatives
Serve as the CLEP testing administrator for Maryville for CLEP testing
Experience and sensitivity in working with people with disabilities
Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act
Knowledge of how to interpret disability-related documentation, psychology and educational assessment reports
Administrative, organization and problem solving skills
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
Commitment to student success
Knowledge of academic success strategies
Appreciation for global and cultural diversity
Communication skills: written, verbal, listening, technical and presentation competency
Excellent Technology skills (Apple/iPad, Symplicity, Microsoft Suite)
3-5 years experience in disabilities services
Experience working with traditional-age college population
Experience with Salesforce
