Summary of Duties:
Serve on the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Information Technology Services (ITS) Infrastructure team; This position is based in Columbus, Ohio and will require travel to all 88 counties in Ohio as needed (CFAES will provide a vehicle). This position is responsible for designing campus logical and physical network infrastructure, including hardware vendor selection, core locations, fiber topology, virtual chassis layout (Juniper only) subnet design, and VLAN design; develops, tests, implements, maintains, and documents optimum campus network configurations for Cisco and Juniper switches and routers, including Routing (SPF and static), Switching (VLANs, trunking, port configuration and security, spanning-tree, BPDU guard), Link Aggregation and Redundancy, Security (ACLs, Routing Policy, Firewall Policy), QoS/CoS, Management (SSH, SNMP, RADIUS), and Virtual Chassis (Juniper) and Switch Stacking (Cisco); troubleshooting problems related to these configurations is also required; designs, enforces, and maintains interior firewall policy and security, primarily associated with inter-VLAN traffic; coordinates with and assists Enterprise Services with exterior (border) firewall policy and security; installs network hardware into network cabinets, including maintenance (fan and power supply) and documentation (patch panel layout, local topology, local VLANs, associated IP addresses and subnets; troubleshoots and works with vendors for warranty replacements as needed; develops, tests, implements, maintains, and documents remote location network configurations, including Site-to-Site VPNs, Wireless Bridges and Access Points, and troubleshoots any problems associated with them; configures Syslog on all network equipment and reviews logs on a schedule adhering to current OSU policy requirements; completes certification training relevant to field and as required, such as CCNA, JNCIA, and Networking +; attends seminars, trade shows, and learning events associated with new and upcoming networking technology and products; support end-users on issues escalated to advanced support; works with customer to resolve issues; will require travel to all 88 counties in Ohio as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in computer & information science or an equivalent combination of education and experience; strong working knowledge of networking concepts (VLANS, Routing, and Firewall security); three or more years of working in IT; strong problem solving, customer service and interpersonal skills for dealing with a diverse client base are necessary; A+ and Networking+.
Target Salary: $60,000 - $68,004 Annually
