Brown University's office of Financial Services is seeking candidates for a Financial Analyst. The Financial Analyst is responsible for the daily analysis of banking activity for two of the University primary bank accounts and plays a significant role in the reconciliation of these accounts.
The individual in this position performs analysis of ACH originated items, returned items, credit card activity, wire transfers, and departmental deposits; he/she processes all ACH file transmissions to the bank on a daily basis. The Financial Analyst is responsible for researching bank adjustments and executing transactions to various systems as deemed necessary. He/she is also responsible for the reporting, investigation, posting and correction of outstanding bank reconciliation items. The position performs all functions according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and University policies, procedures and practices, and in accordance with standard banking procedures and practices, and the Financial Analyst must be educated and informed in all areas. The Financial Services Analyst has a comprehensive understanding of the University Chart of Accounts in order to provide guidance to departments.
â?¢ Required: Bachelorâ??s Degree in accounting, finance or related business concentration required
â?¢ 3-5 years of relevant professional experience with accounting and financial data analysis including development of reports. Experience in higher education a plus.
â?¢ Demonstrated experience in advanced Excel required
â?¢ Requires professional knowledge of the theory, principles and procedures of accounting, auditing and financial management.
â?¢ Strong technical and analytical skills to translate data from various sources into user-friendly reports and spreadsheets.
â?¢ Must be detail oriented and possess exceptional analytical, organizational, administrative, time management skills and the ability to work independently as well as be a productive member of a team.
â?¢ Possess initiative and judgement to independently problem solve and prioritize.
â?¢ Ability to independently develop and implement short and long term goals and to prioritize.
