The National Bank of Belgium (NBB) requires a financial analyst (F/M) for its Resolution Unit.
The Resolution Unit is an entity created for the purpose of implementing the new Banking Act and transposing the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD). It consists of a small, dynamic team. The unit works closely with the prudential services and various other departments of the NBB.
The unit offers the opportunity to work on operational cases and on development of the resolution policy. Its job is organised around the preparation of a resolution plan for each Belgian credit institution and for certain stock exchange firms, and the assessment of the resulting resolvability. That entails maintaining contact with both the credit institution and the teams in charge of supervision. This work is conducted not only within a Belgian context but also via participation in the internal resolution teams (IRTs), the European resolution colleges, and the activities of the Single Resolution Board. The unit also takes part in the preparation of the regulatory framework concerning resolution at Belgian and European level. It plays an active role in matters concerning the development of the BRRD, the MREL and the devising of the resolution plan methodology. The unit is also responsible for preparing the decisions of the Resolution College and providing its secretariat. Finally, in the event of a crisis the unit prepares the decisions of the Resolution College on use of the resolution instruments.
- contributing towards development of the resolution plan methodology
- participating in the analysis of the activities and structure of certain credit institutions in order to design a resolution strategy
- identifying operational impediments to the implementation of the resolution plan
- proposing ways of reducing those impediments
- participating in the development of the Resolution Unit.
- hold a master's degree in (applied) economics or business engineering
- be willing to take on responsibilities quickly at both national and international level
- have relevant experience in the field of bank regulation or supervision and/or have a general knowledge of the legislation concerning resolution and be willing to specialise in the assigned spheres of competence
- have a good working knowledge of French and Dutch plus English
- have analytical skills and the ability to summarise
- be able to work independently and in a team, in a multidisciplinary, international environment
- be flexible, discreet and capable of working under pressure.
