UConn Health (http://health.uconn.edu) is a branch of the University of Connecticut that oversees clinical care, advanced biomedical research, and academic education in medicine. UConn Health is a vibrant organization located on a 160-acre campus situated around a wooded hilltop in the beautiful, historic community of Farmington. UConn Health campus is home to the School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, the UConn Medical Group (UMG), UConn John Dempsey Hospital, a division of the UConn Graduate School and is the primary practice site for medical, surgical and dental faculty and students.
Additionally, the UConn Health Campus is home to a thriving research enterprise and home to Jackson Laboratories, a nationally renowned leader and UConn Health collaborator. The university owns and operates many smaller clinics around the State that contain UConn Medical Group, UConn Health Partners, University Dentists and research facilities.
UConn School of Medicine
The University Of Connecticut School Of Medicine was established in 1961 and is part of the University of Connecticut system of higher learning. Situated in suburban Farmington on the campus of UConn Health, the School of Medicine, the School of Dental Medicine, and the Graduate School in the Biomedical Sciences, represent the scholastic side of the academic medical center that includes the John Dempsey Hospital, UConn Medical Group, UConn Health Partners and University Dentists.
UConn Medical Group (UMG) is faculty practice with more than 250 providers in over 65 specialties and subspecialties, providing care at their primary site in Farmington; on the UConn Health Campus and in eight community based locations in the Farmington Valley, the Hartford region and stretching across Connecticut. Dental care is also provided to the public in a number of clinical settings, including University Dentists, Resident Clinics, and Student Teaching Clinics.
CEO is responsible for providing operational and strategic leadership for UMG. The UMG CEO will carry out this function in concert with the overall strategic direction of the UConn Health system and in collaboration with the UConn John Dempsey Hospital (JDH) CEO and other members of the UConn Health’s senior leadership team.
CEO is an executive who provides operational leadership for the chairs, department heads, physicians, other clinicians and employees of the ambulatory clinics in order to ensure that UMG becomes an exemplary and profitable multi-specialty faculty practice that delivers a superior patient care experience characterized by premier university level care, easily accessed at a reasonable cost and delivered with consistently high customer service.
