The Department of Genetics and Complex Diseases is seeking a highly organized faculty coordinator to work collaboratively with the executive assistant to the chair and be the point person for the following duties:
Welcomes all new members of the lab, provides lab handbook, and introduces new members to the lab community.
Arranges complex domestic and international travel arrangements on behalf of members of the lab in the laboratory traveling on business.
Schedules various meetings both internal and external, including reserving room location, communicating details, and providing audio/visual support
Receives and distributes daily laboratory supplies when Lab Manager is out of the office
Offers daily assistance to scientists in the laboratory with assistance with ordering office supplies, processing reimbursement requests, troubleshooting computer issues.
Reconciles the corporate card statements for all cardholders in the laboratory, using the University's financial management system
Organizes and maintains the rotation schedule for internal science presentation meetings
Oversees the archiving initiative for documenting the scientific experimentation process being followed by 30+ scientists, and maintains electronic files and filing systems pertaining to this initiative
Delivers occasional administrative support to the Administrator of the Department and other departmental admin staff.
Responsible for all lab related social media and website

3+ years of experience in an administrative role; a combination of experience and education will be considered.
Bachelor degree preferred. Experience in Academia is preferred. Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft office and experience in a Mac environment. Knowledge of website development and social media is highly desired.
High level of initiative and motivation; ability to work independently and with a team. Excellent communication, organization, time management, and record-keeping skills. Demonstrated organizational skills. Must have demonstrated experience in handling sensitive and confidential information. Must be proactive, friendly, and confident in dealing with faculty and staff. Personal interest in supporting high level intellectual work of academic professionals. Ability to appreciate the importance of the role of basic science in improving the lives of individuals and populations.
