Florida Atlantic University's Information Security department is seeking a Specialist, Computer Applications, Boca Raton, FL.
The Specialist, Computer Applications will be responsible for working with the Information Security team to ensure the security of university assets and sensitive information.
Manage university firewalls, implementing technical network and system-based controls to protect resources, performing vulnerability testing and networking monitoring/packet capturing for security purposes on a University-wide scale, serving
as a consultant to other university departments on implementing technical security controls, reviewing and monitoring security events and network traffic for possible signs of intrusion or compromise.
Master's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Business and one year of experience in information security such as managing firewalls, Windows or Linux operating system security, network security, intrusion detection, vulnerability management, and regulatory IT risk compliance; or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Business and three years of experience in information security such as managing firewalls, Windows or Linux operating system security, network security, intrusion detection, vulnerability management, and regulatory IT risk compliance required.
An active, practicing security certification such as: GIAC GSEC, GIAC GCED, GIAC GCIH, ISACA CISA, ISACA CISM, Cisco CCNA Security, Juniper JNCIS-SEC or similar practicing certifications.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information and Ability to adapt quickly in a fast paced work environment.
Ability to communicate both professionally and efficiently in verbal and written communication
Ability to investigate incidents and identify false positives from real threats.
Basic network troubleshooting.
