Bachelor's degree in photography, or a field related to photography preferred with an emphasis in art, communication, or photography. A minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional photography experience working within a marketing, communication, design, or photography environment is required.
Must provide evidence of creative ability, technical skill and professionalism with effective marketing photography, spot-news photography capturing key visual moments, and outstanding photography at high-profile official events featuring donors, dignitaries, and other individuals of importance to the University.
Must have professional knowledge of photographic techniques and processes required to capture excellent photos in challenging settings. Must have experience capturing group photos and effectively managing large and small groups of photo subjects in a variety of settings. A thorough understanding of natural and studio lighting and setup for photographing outdoor and indoor situations. Competence with a variety of camera systems, Nikon preferred, and photo editing software, Adobe Creative Cloud preferred. Proven experience archiving photos using Photoshelter, or similar software, to create photo archives, lightboxes and shareable galleries. Must have experience with a variety of social media networks including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Snapchat, and Instagram. Must be collaborative and flexible. Must be available to work occasional weekends and evenings. Must be a team-player willing to contribute to the evolving creative vision of a mid-sized regional university. Must be highly organized, detail oriented and able to maintain an exceptionally busy calendar.
