Applicants for this GRADE 10 position must have an MA (or higher) in Anthropology, Archaeology or related field, or a Masters degree in Museum Education with a prior BA (or higher) in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field. The preferred candidate will have a Masters (or higher) in Anthropology, Archaeology or related field with supplementary degree or certificate in Museum Studies, focused on Museum Education.
We seek a candidate with 3-5 years professional experience managing a Museum Education program, preferably at a university teaching museum, with demonstrated experience in writing, receiving, and managing external grants.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working with and responding to university administrators, faculty, and students on a peer-to-peer basis in order to advance the Museum's programs and agenda and to represent the needs of administrators, faculty and students to the Museum's staff. He or she will help the Museum to advance its goals across the University, presenting and supporting ideas and programs to build collaborative approaches to advance the Museum's goals.
She or he must be able to communicate professionally with speakers, artists, and others to plan programs; will be a proficient public speaker; and must have sufficient academic competence in anthropology and/or archaeology to integrate this knowledge at a professional level into the development of innovative and engaging Museum Education programs.
