The selected candidate would operate under the direction of the leadership of the Department of Design and Construction, which operates within the Division of Facilities, Planning and Operations, reporting to the Senior Vice President for Facilities, Planning and Operations.
The primary responsibilities for this position includes providing scheduling and cost estimating services associated with a myriad of institutional construction and development projects ranging from academic and administrative building construction or renovation, infrastructure development, and student housing, projects being very large to very small in scale. The candidate must possess the capability of self-performing project estimates and development of schedules in collaboration with or in lieu of outside consulting services.
This position is particularly being sought to enable a more predictable approach to serving the campus community for project delivery by this Division, and enable a more accurate forecasting and accountability for project costs. Additionally it is expected that this position will develop a database of project cost forecasting, combined with a resultant tracking of historical results for future use by the division.
Must have a BS in Construction Management, or any related technical or finance discipline demonstrated to be associated with the aforementioned job responsibilities and expectations.
Candidate must have a minimum of five years’ experience in project costing and estimating, must be familiar with the public bidding processes within institutional settings.
Must be proficient in project scheduling and estimating software programs including but not limited to MS Project, Primavera, or other industrywide programs presently in use. Must have a portfolio of experience in the industry and must have access to industrywide costing and productivity information to support their day to day activities.
This candidate must also have capability of managing construction and development projects on an as-needed basis, but with primary responsibility of scheduling and estimating.
The successful candidate must possess collaborative capabilities and be capable of communicating with project management staff, finance staff, and executive staffing within the Division. This candidate would be positioned to work collaboratively across each University campus, including Camden, Stratford, and Glassboro, NJ, and would work with the Facilities Operations staff in the scheduling, forecasting, and estimating activities surrounding a wide variety of types and sizes of projects, including self-performed work by operations trades staff.
