Budget Title: Lead Programmer Analyst (SL-3)
Salary: $55,000 - $65,000
The Research Support Analyst will be responsible for the support of technology hardware and software in research environments, in collaboration with faculty, students, and staff. The individual will partner with University researchers to identify technology, document requirements and assist in accessing and using technology resources to enhance research efforts. The individual will act as a technical resource for University faculty members and researchers, translating between research needs and technology solutions. The analyst will provide support to researchers including installing, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining technology used for research.
Additionally the Research Support Analyst will manage the Emerging Technology Studio, staffed by student workers, and will inform University researchers of opportunities to use emerging technologies to enhance research.
The Research Support Analyst will report to the Assistant Director of Innovation and Research, Technology Support Services and Information Technology Services. Additionally the individual will work closely with other key groups and staff members within Information Technology Services (ITS), University faculty members and researchers.
In addition, the Research Support Analyst will:
Compile and clearly document all HPC and file storage resources available to research faculty including local and cloud services
Collaborate with ITS and Watson Computing Staff in designing, building, documenting, and advertising research services
Assist research faculty in meeting their research needs by identifying, configuring, and utilizing existing services and resources
Work with ITS staff and research faculty to draft and submit relevant grants towards the improvement of the University's research infrastructure
Manage the ITS Emerging Technology Studio and student staff
Inform researchers of emerging technologies that could enhance research
Use ITSM system to actively track incidents and projects that are being requested by researchers
Investigate new products and technologies that can enhance the performance and stability research efforts across the University
Work with ITS and external departments to determine future research growth and needs across the University
Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues, providing problem resolution end-to-end
Work in a team setting and provide a positive working environment
Provide excellent customer service including providing regular updates and follow-up
Must be able to maintain data confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements (HIPAA, etc.)
Minimum of 4 years' experience in research and/or technology support
Proficiency performing data manipulation and statistical analysis using MatLab, Python, R, or similar languages/tools
Experience with Local and Cloud High Performance Computing environments including XSEDE, Amazon EC2 or similar
Experience with Local and Cloud data storage including Dell Compellent Storage, Amazon S3, Backblaze Pods, or similar
General Windows/Linux/Unix administration experience
Proficiency with Parallel Programming using OpenCL or similar
Experience building and rebuilding RAID storage arrays
Experience building, configuring, and administering HPC and custom storage arrays
Experience writing and submitting Grants
Experience working in higher-education research environment
