Under the direction of the EOP Lead Academic Counselor & Assistant Vice Provost for Student Success, the Undocumented Student Services Coordinator/EOP Counselor (USSC/EC) provides direct services to EOP students and coordinates programs to support the academic success, retention and graduation of EOP students with a focus on undocumented students. The incumbent provides academic and personal counseling/guidance and manages student cases to propel their development and success as university students. In addition, the Coordinator/EOP Counselor collaborates with campus partners including the Colleges, Academic Departments, faculty, student service units and student organizations on retention/student success initiatives. The incumbent is readily accessible to faculty, staff, students and parents/family members and coordinates communication and student case management. The Coordinator/EOP Counselor conducts project management including data collection, evaluation and reporting. The incumbent will supervise and train student staff and engage in professional development to implement best practices and research based methodologies. This position will serve as the lead and coordinator for the Undocumented Student Services program, a campus based initiative under the leadership of the EOP Office.
Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, student affairs or related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
Experience and achievement advising and/or counseling students who are undocumented, first-generation to college, low-income, underrepresented, non-traditional and/or have immigrant backgrounds.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills.
Multicultural competency and experience advising diverse groups of students with special emphasis on immigrant and undocumented students.
Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds.
