Working under the direction of the Associate Dean for Academic & Faculty Affairs, for both the Graduate Programs and Graduate School or Education, the Assistant to the Associate Dean is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and project support to ensure smooth functioning of their work and contribute to the overall efficiency of the academic area. This position requires leadership, problem-solving skills and the ability to make independent judgments, particularly during times when the deans and other administrators are not available. This position interacts with other senior level offices at the University, including other Dean's, as well as members of University committees. Accordingly, the candidate must be able to communicate professionally and effectively on behalf of the deans.
Excellent verbal and writing skills; exercise confidentiality, tact and diplomacy in dealing with others; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to successfully function in a team environment with strong organizational experience. Effective multi-tasking, priority setting, and ability to support three senior level administrators in a fast-paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure. Capable of handling diverse tasks and assignments. Flexibility to accommodate and respond to direction from multiple sources. Ability to make independent decisions, manage multiple projects, and represent the Associate Deans in a professional manner. Experience with PCs and Apple computers necessary, including high level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, and cloud application programs. Administrative and project management experience, preferably in an academic setting. Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred. Minimum of 5 years proven experience providing high level administrative support to senior level executive and/or academic managers required.
