Escorts patients to exam rooms, obtains and appropriately records patient vital signs and medications, monitors patient flow, assists physicians with minor clinical procedures, performs EKGs, prepares patient chart with pertinent medical information. Schedules diagnostic tests and follow-up visits ordered by the physician as needed. Performs various office and clerical duties, including scheduling and checking patients in to the clinic and departing. Verifies insurance benefits and eligibility, obtains authorizations as needed. Ensures patient's right to privacy, safety, and confidentiality is maintained. Maintains a safe environment in accordance with standards, policies, and safety regulations. Ensures compliance with infection control policies. Other duties as assigned.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma
- At least 1 year experience in ambulatory care setting .
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
-Spanish language skills, Knowledge of medical terminology, Familiarity with word processing, IDX, GECB, COR Schuynet, Cerner, ProSolv, EPF and scheduling software, are preferred.
- BLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
- Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
