The Department of Pathology currently has an outstanding opportunity for a RESEARCH SCIENTIST ENGINEER 2.
Under the general direction of the PI, this position provides comprehensive research to develop biomarkers for the diagnosis and staging of neurodegenerative diseases, and for the evaluation of potential disease modifying agents.
Research focuses for this position include but are not limited to:
Support protein expression, purification, and post-translational modification efforts
Investigate underlying pathological mechanisms
Identify and evaluate the roles of key biomarkers in the disease process
Demonstrate a mastery of major immunologically based technologies; Qiagen's Luminex, Meso Scale
Discovery's, electro chemiluminescent detection and Simoa's Quanterix platforms.
Develop and validate immune-assays for candidate biomarkers
Conduct immune-assays using major immunologically based technologies
Contribute to the design and execution of cell and tissue based studies to investigate biological mechanisms of neurodegeneration
Collect and acquire human clinical biological samples
Masters in any related Life science, Biomedical Engineering or Chemistry And two to four years' experience or an equivalent education and experience.
Working knowledge of ELISA and/or other immunologically based assay; Protein expression, purification and post-translational modifications. Cell and/or tissue based studies.
Strong background in molecular and cell biology, biochemistry and related fields that can assist in mechanistic investigations is also highly desirable. Collaborative and project management skills, data analysis, production and presentation of publication quality manuscripts and figures.
