The Department of Health Services is seeking a full-time Marketing and Communications Manager to work with the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice (NWCPHP). The NWCPHP conducts training, evaluation, and research activities as part of the Center's mission to improve the quality and effectiveness of public health practice by linking academia and the practice community. NWCPHP's activities serve national efforts, but focus primarily on four Pacific Northwest states: Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Montana and Wyoming are also often involved in NWCPHP activities.
The Marketing and Communications Manager will oversee the communications and marketing activities of NWCPHP, including strategy and hands-on production. In addition to strengthening NWCPHP communications with existing public health partners, the Manager will develop and implement strategies to reach new partners in a shifting public health landscape. The position will also lead the strategic planning and production of a variety of Web, social media, print and other media products for NWCPHP activities.
The Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for overseeing NWCPHP branding and promoting NWCPHP trainings, research, and evaluation services. Marketing activities of the NWCPHP include e-postcards, quarterly newsletters, annual reports, toolkits, news releases, website content, HTML emails, and more. To inform NWCPHP communications activities, this individual will also maintain an awareness of the communication activities of key internal and external partners such as SPH, other SPH departments, and public health agencies/organizations at the local, state, and national level.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Analyze and determine needs, define goals, and recommend steps needed to carry out well-planned, strategic marketing and communications activities for a broad array of NWCPHP projects and services. Lead discussions around the development and dissemination of key messages to current target audiences and new public health partners. Manage the Center's various distribution lists and social media platforms, monitor engagement, and create strategies for growing new audiences.
Develop informative communications that portray the overall structure and importance of NWCPHP projects. This position will identify creative opportunities and key decision-points for messaging and marketing NWCPHP and its activities, as well as maintaining systems and structures to organize other staff's contributions to marketing and communication activities.
Create communications collateral that delivers a consistent message, look, and voice to ensure the NWCPHP image, brand, and mission are accurately portrayed in all publications. This position is fully responsible for ensuring NWCPHP activities are appropriately represented in print, web, PowerPoint, and all other forms of NWCPHP-preferred communication channels.
Refine, develop and customize communications templates and boilerplate. Provide personal consultation services for NWCPHP faculty and staff; design materials for public dissemination; illustrate concepts through graphic design; assist in production of online course format and design to align with NWCPHP branding; design Web graphics and layout, and a wide variety of print materials, including the NWCPHP's Annual Report and Northwest Public Health magazine; brand and create marketing materials for in-person institutes and other face-to-face trainings.
Oversee/develop website content and redesign, including general and project-specific websites; lead web-related project teams.
Develop strong customer relationships internally and externally and foster environment of excellent customer service; demonstrate accountability for own professional growth and competency by seeking opportunities for skill development; perform additional duties as required.

| Bachelor's degree in marketing, graphic design, or a related field plus 4 years' experience in marketing and communications, including strategic thinking and production with an emphasis on adaptive writing skills and graphic design. This experience must include 2 years as a team lead or supervisor, and project management. |
