Internal Audit has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior IT Auditor.
Under the general direction of associate directors, the Senior Information Technology (IT) Auditor is responsible to plan and perform independent, risk based audit, assurance and consulting activities related to IT internal processes, controls, risk management and governance activities within the University of Washington to determine the adequacy of general and application controls, and to assess compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies while adding value and improving IT operations. Senior IT auditors are expected to have IT internal audit experience and to demonstrate proficiency in performing internal audit work which conforms to professional standards. Audit work includes planning, development of audit programs for audit testing and evaluation, and reporting of audit results.
In addition, performs computer forensics and provides IT support for Internal Audit, including maintaining our servers, installing software upgrades, performing test of backup/recovery, and updating of security plans and department policies and procedures.
Work assigned to senior IT auditors is expected to be carried out with limited supervision. The complexity and size of audit assignments varies.
| Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, information technology or related discipline |
Three years of IT audit experience or equivalent technical experience.
The ability to assess the effectiveness of internal controls over key IT risks, identifying significant exposures, analyzing transactions and other management information and detecting changes in key risks and/or control effectiveness.
Skill in developing appropriate recommendations to address exposures.
In depth understanding of information security and privacy requirements from a compliance and regulatory perspective.
Familiarity with risk-based assurance and consulting activities including virtualized environments, cloud-based hosted services and hybrid solutions based on NIST Cybersecurity framework. COBIT and COSO Internal Control - Integrated Framework.
Ability to design and perform audits and new systems implementation reviews of information systems in a multi-platform computing environment.
Excellent written and oral communications skills, ability to work with all levels of management within the organization.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
| Master's Degree and/or related certification such as CPA, CISA, CISSP or CISM. |
Knowledge of external regulations such as HIPAA, FERPA, PCI Standards and GLB.
Higher Education and/or healthcare audit experience.
Experience with ACL, SQL or similar audit data mining applications as well as automated work papers.
Experience in maintaining servers (including virtual), installing software upgrades, and performing tests of backup/recovery procedures.
Experience using IT forensics tools.
