Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Training Director, and Research Program Managers, the incumbent will assist in the coordination of activities that support the overall work of and a specific research study at the Johns Hopkins Center to Eliminate Cardiovascular Health Disparities. The Center works to promote equity in health for at-risk populations through advancing scientific knowledge, promoting sustainable changes in practice and policy, partnering with communities, raising public awareness of health inequities, and training scholars. The research study is a pragmatic cluster randomized trial in which we will compare the effectiveness of clinic-based standard of care plus audit, feedback and education to an intervention that uses a collaborative care team, a community health worker and specialist consultation to deliver contextualized, appropriately stepped care (CC/Stepped Care) for reducing disparities and improving patient-centered outcomes among patients with hypertension. Thirty primary care clinics, including Federally Qualified Health Centers, across Maryland will recruit 63 patients each (total=1,890). The team will use patient and broad stakeholder engagement and apply principles of community-based participatory research to refine and adapt intervention protocols and materials to the needs of participating organizations, clinic sites, and populations. The goal of the study is to improve care for hypertension and reduce racial disparities related to health outcomes. The incumbent will work with adult community members, faculty, staff, and students from the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health. He or she will also come in contact with adult (18 and older) research participants. He or she will also work with our clinical partners and interact with providers, MAs, other clinical staff, and adult (21 and older) research participants. The incumbent will also work with the Center's Training Director to coordinate the Center's training programs and tracking the progress of current and past trainees.
Duties and Responsibilities (Research):
* Maintain knowledge of the study protocol and reporting requirements. * Serves as contact point for Care Managers and CHWs in clinics. * Collects, enters, validates and cleans data pertaining to the research studies. * Prepares data for analysis. * Assists with research participant tracking. * Makes strategic recommendations/decisions related to quality assurance findings to meet project goals. * Follow federal, state and institutional laws and guidelines to access and maintain confidential records related to research patient health information. * Generate reports for project deliverables. * Performs literature reviews and prepares evidence tables and summaries for grant proposals and manuscripts. * Coordinate and conduct quality assurance procedures on a regular basis. * Helps with scheduling and paperwork related to training of interventionists and meeting with stakeholders. * Assists in the development of toolkits and other materials for dissemination of research materials. * Coordinate and participate in study meetings including the preparation of agendas and meeting minutes. * Other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities (Training):
* Manages the intake and mentorship and workgroup assignments of trainees from multiple levels, including high school students, undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and junior faculty * Oversees training program's intake process, and facilitates communication between trainees and Center faculty * Oversees development of training materials, including presentations on cardiovascular health concerns in support of community partner's health promotional activities and materials for research trainees * Coordinates monthly research seminars * Ensures maintenance of database of Center academic publications, news articles, faculty presentations and awards * Assists with Center communication and dissemination efforts, including website maintenance and development * Other duties as assigned.
