The mission of the International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is to accelerate equitable and sustainable access to vaccines through the generation, synthesis, and use of evidence to inform decision making and action. The work of IVAC focuses on disease epidemiology, vaccine economics and supply, monitoring and evaluation of vaccine introduction, and advocacy and communications activities to increase the profile of and global action on vaccine-preventable disease.
About the Project (VIEW-hub)
VIEW-hub (Vaccine Information and Epidemiology Window) is a publicly accessible interactive platform that allows visualization of real-time information on vaccine use, product type, coverage levels, as well as disease impact assessments. It can be used to track progress and strategize ways to accelerate and optimize vaccine implementation. This tool is designed for global, regional, and national stakeholders from the global health community, including program partners, civil society organizations, academia, industry, governments, and donor institutions. VIEW-hub has a large global presence, with users ranging from high-level donors to country-level advocates and policy makers. VIEW-hub and its corresponding databases support a number of different projects across IVAC, including projects within the Epidemiology and Policy, Advocacy & Communications teams. Through the online interactive platform, VIEW-hub generates data visualization that support key immunization decision making. It is also used to generate project-specific and ad hoc analyses for key partners, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Gavi, and WHO to identify and analyze metrics for measuring progress towards vaccine strategic objectives.
About the Position
The role of the VIEW-hub Coordinator is to support the ongoing development, maintenance and output of the VIEW-hub data visualization platform. To accomplish this, the VIEW-hub Coordinator works closely with the other members of the VIEW-hub team, which includes scientific technical leads, other VIEW-hub coordinator(s), website developers at Dure Technologies and graduate research assistants. The VIEW-hub Coordinator must also engage closely with coordinators for other related IVAC projects, current and potential funders, and external partners (e.g., WHO, CDC, Gavi, Gates Foundation) to ensure VIEW-hub is supporting their needs.
Management of the VIEW-hub database Gather, abstract, organize, and analyze data on vaccine introductions and coverage, health policy, and vaccine financing
Conduct literature reviews of vaccine impact studies and abstract data into the VIEW-hub database Develop new databases as needed to support the addition of new platform modules Coordination between the VIEW-hub team, funders, and other partners Engage with study investigators to update ongoing vaccine impact studies
Provide guidance to the website developers on the platform's design, content, functionality, and visual usability. Present new developments to partners and funders for feedback and dissemination Design, implement, and present new modules in VIEW-hub Develop and implement new scopes of work (e.g., adding vaccines) based on funders' interest, working closely with the website developers (Dure Technologies)
Contribute to the development of new proposals Present and promote new developments (updates and additions) in the platform Update and develop training materials Update and develop communication strategies Data analysis and report writing
Prepare IVAC's quarterly Global Vaccine Introduction and Implementation reports, as well as other presentations, data graphics, and project-specific communications needs Write analytic and summary reports on PCV and rotavirus vaccine impact studies Create informational maps using geographic information systems (GIS) Prepare country profiles on an ad hoc basis for briefing purposes Ad hoc support
Provide research support as needed Create ad hoc maps and other data visuals Other duties as assigned Manage the VIEW-hub budget Track expenditures relative to the available funding
Develop budgets for upcoming fiscal years Estimate budgets for new proposals to update or expand the tool Other support to IVAC as needed
