Review, problem resolution and signature for most grant- and incoming subcontract applications and awards for approximately one-sixth of the departments of the School of Medicine; serve as resource for sponsored projects questions and database access and use
Review, correct/negotiate and sign the following applications and awards for approximately one-sixth of the department of the School of Medicine: * all applications and awards to/from foundations and other nonprofit sponsors * all federal electronic applications and awards * all incoming subawards except those under prime awards from commercial sponsors or federal contracts * all noncompeting grant and incoming subaward applications to both government and nonprofit sponsors * prior approval requests and administrative updates such as no-cost extension requests, JIT documentation, pre-award cost prior approvals, etc. * certification of human subjects and/or animal approvals * final invention reports and relinquishing statements Communicate with faculty and staff to provide instruction, assistance and advice on grant preparation and administration and to request corrections and resolve discrepancies.
Know and understand sponsor and University policies. Remain informed and up-to-date concerning events, regulations and changes that affect sponsored projects. Interpret guidelines and assist in applying them to specific applications, awards and issues. Assist faculty and staff with access and use of grant-related electronic submission sites and databases such as COEUS, Grants.gov, E-commons.
Conduct specialized training courses for departments as needed.
B.A. or B.S. required in related discipline.
Three years experience in research administration with some specialized experience in grant administration, preferably in a biomedical field. Some familiarity with legal principles or negotiation.
A combination of less education, plus work experience sufficient to demonstrate the skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position, may be considered. Individual must be detail-oriented, well organized, able to handle multiple projects be considered.
