General Statement of Duties: The Education Licensure Officer administers all aspects of the candidate initial licensure process on behalf of the Education Department. The incumbent of this position will provide accurate information concerning licensure, train supervising practitioners and program supervisors on the Candidate Assessment of Perform (CAP) instrument, maintain an accessible database of students completing their Capstone project keep impeccable data on program completers, and serve as the liaison between the Worcester State University Education Department and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE).

(E) Maintains impeccable records of all Stage III teacher candidates and program completers. Ensures that all program completer folders for the reporting period are consistent with ESE program completer lists before they are filed in the forms room of the Education Department.
(E) Maintains partnerships with Professional Development Schools to ensure quality and appropriate student teaching placements.
(E) Serves as liaison with (ESE) Office of Educator Licensure, for the purpose of clarifying regulations and resolving licensure issues. Responds to inquiries about licensure regulations from students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community.
(E) In collaboration with the Department Chair, recruits and assigns adjunct and full-time faculty as supervisors for the Student Teaching Capstone experience. Provides training for adjunct and full-time program supervisor (PS) on the Candidate Assessment of Performance (CAP) Instrument. Updates students and faculty on changes in regulations.
(E) Reviews undergraduate students Stage III applications for student teaching to ascertain that they have met all the requirements before providing the registrar with the names of qualified students for the Capstone Experience.
(E) Reviews post-baccalaureate students Stage III applications for Student Teaching/Capstone Experience to ascertain that Middle/Secondary candidates seeking licensure have met all the requirements before coordinating their registration with the Graduate School.
(E) Provides a comprehensive list of course sections of adjunct faculty serving as program supervisors to the Department Chair and Academic Affairs, so that contracts could be generated and signed in a timely manner.
(E) Demonstrates understanding of the Undergraduate Day and DGCE contracts as they pertain to course credit and candidates that are supervised.
(E) Generates and distributes course vouchers and arrange for Professional Development Points (PDP) to Supervising Practitioners for all licensure programs.
(E) Provides support and training for Supervising Practitioners (SP) who have been identified as practitioners and appropriate mentors for student teachers (ST).
(E) Conducts a fall and spring Practitioner Conference for SP, ST & PS prior to the beginning of the semester. Monitors supervision of student teachers' progress; and initiate mediation when needed.
(E) Assists the Chair with the revision of forms, handbooks, and other materials required by the licensure office. Ensures that there is an adequate supply of forms, MTEL booklets and MTEL schedules for students.
