This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial visionary to join a technical team innovating to help improve the livelihoods of millions of people. The team is working with large data sets, developing exploratory data visualization applications and platforms, and bringing forth insights and information in an accessible way to users around the world.
The Growth Lab at Harvard's Center for International Development (CID) seeks to answer why some countries grow while others remain mired in poverty. Our team takes government data, and combined with our research methodology on growth, turns it into interactive data tools affecting policy at the highest levels and citizens worldwide.
The Product Manager will help shape the vision and lead the development and enhancement of tools and platforms, including The Atlas of Economic Complexity, produced by the Growth Lab. The Atlas is an innovative online platform that presents translated data and new theories of how countries grow. The tool enables policymakers, researchers and analysts to interactively visualize a country's trade and explore growth opportunities for more than a hundred countries worldwide.
This person will lead and collaborate with a growing team of developers and designers working on the visualization of data and analysis from CID's Growth Lab research. The Product Manager will be expected to shape the vision for the tools and products developed by the Growth Lab alongside management and academic researchers.
The Product Manager will prioritize and plan team activities and deadlines working with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders and spearhead the evolution of the international Atlas of Economic Complexity and the development of additional innovative tools to help visualize the Growth Lab's research. The Product Manager will be responsible for leading these activities while maintaining space for the team to innovate additional platforms to disseminate research. This person will work very closely with the academic research team and senior CID leadership.
While shaping and driving the vision for the Growth Lab's products, the Product Manager is expected to be a consensus builder and effective communicator amongst all stakeholders. In this role, it is expected that the Product Manager will contribute and collaborate in a very hands on manner on the technical side. Work may require international travel from time to time.
