Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District is recruiting for a new Management Analyst II position in the Planning & Project Delivery business line to perform professional administrative, analytical, and technical work. Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District is comprised of over 63,000 acres of land and 26 open space preserves protected for public enjoyment. About the Position: The ideal candidate has solid analytical experience; possesses excellent judgment, curiosity, and proactive problem solving skills; and has the ability to successfully coordinate and accomplish professional-level administrative and project tracking work. The successful candidate is organized and detail-oriented, yet can see the broader perspective; has a proven ability to build positive and productive relationships; possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and provides excellent customer service. Flexibility and the capacity to comfortably adapt to and manage change in an evolving workplace are a must.
Essential functions for this position include: updating and maintaining internal systems, databases, tracking tools, timelines and project plans with specific project information to effectively track project schedules, expenditures, and progress; identifying and escalating discrepancies in project tracking data, including expenses and encumbrances, to call out potential project risks; assisting Department and project managers with budget reallocation and adjustment approvals; developing, maintaining, and summarizing performance measures and other administrative records related to protected lands, public access facilities, and departmental staff growth; reinforcing standardization of project management tools, procedures, and activities; and recommending policy and procedural improvements to gain project delivery efficiencies.
Reporting directly to the Assistant General Manager in charge of Planning and Project Delivery, this position will work at Midpen’s Los Altos office supporting the Real Property, Planning, and Engineering and Construction Departments as they fulfill the mission of open space preservation, natural resource protection, and ecologically-sensitive public access. Within the Planning and Project Delivery business line, this position will assemble the required data inputs to develop the annual budget and capital improvement plan (CIP); help monitor, report, research, and estimate current and future project expenditures, variances, and budget performance; assist with the tracking of project budgets, milestones, and schedules; recommend measures, including new resources, procedural improvements, and/or tools to keep projects on track; create, maintain, and track department databases; conduct data analysis and prepare findings with specific procedural and/or policy recommendations; perform professional trends analysis and forecasting to understand short-term and long-term impacts of potential actions; and assist with special projects as needed.
