Posting Summary: The Human Resource Benefits Office seeks to fill the role of Benefits Specialist. Reporting to the Benefits Manager, the position requires a self-starter who takes pride in helping people resolve non-routine benefits concerns in a fast paced, results oriented and friendly team environment. Requires the ability to grasp and present information, excellent oral and written communication skills, a proficiency with modern technology and - most importantly a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
The successful candidate will provide benefit support and counsel to current faculty, staff, Medical Center employees, and retirees as well as candidates for the same roles. They will also make contributions to the implementation of various benefit programs. This role requires conducting new employee orientations as well as various public speaking roles in the communication of a complex benefit structure. Also will be required to work with benefit vendors and third party administrators in the delivery of employee benefits. Must be able to successfully multi-task. The successful candidate will be successful in adjusting customer service approach as needed - providing "high touch" customer service as requested.
Required Minimum Level of Education: *Degree or Equivalent Experience Required

Required Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Required Specific Experience: Experience in Human Resources and public speaking and at least 2 years experience in benefits administration.
Preferred Specific Experience: 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration, high touch customer service, and presentation of complex benefits offerings.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience in public speaking or conducting training seminars. Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state benefits administration regulations and requirements. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and build positive work relationships. Demonstrated ability to develop and cultivate resources for research and issue resolution. General knowledge of automated systems and the ability to use computers to access data and manage work flow.
