The Muslim Chaplaincy Program Coordinator works collaboratively with the Associate Chaplain for the Muslim Community to support the full program with special emphasis on counsel, support and advice for Muslim women.
The Program Coordinator will help to create mentoring projects within the Muslim Community especially directed at meeting the needs of women in the community and will also work collaboratively with the professional team in the Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life, as well as with colleagues and students in a variety of campus offices, organizations and programs, as appropriate.
- Required: Bachelorâ??s degree
- Preferred: Basic traditional Islamic knowledge (â??fard aynâ??); Chaplaincy certificate; CPE; interfaith competence
1-3 yearsâ?? experience in leadership or oversight of a classroom and/or co-curricular program in a school, community, NGO, or religious setting, including planning and implementation of educational, community building events and gatherings. Experience in higher education, Islam, multi-faith settings and women's programming is directly relevant to the content and portfolio of this post. Background in religious, spiritual and emotional care in higher education within a multifaith context is highly preferred; Experience in higher education and/or work in student development is also highly preferred; work in not-for-profit settings with volunteers is also preferred.
Capacity to organize small group activities including meetings and study sessions;
Proven capacity to develop and maintain trusting relationships with volunteers;
Demonstrated ability to build and establish effective program;
Capacity to work collaboratively with professional and student leaders; and
Ability to write and communicate clearly
