Under limited supervision, the Career Development Coordinator will coordinate all college planning and career development services, including outreach to surrounding counties. This person will provide individual and group assistance to students related to college planning and career development activities. This person will also work closely with area high schools to successfully transition students into postsecondary programs or work. This position will require collaboration with other departments and offices within the College. Strong communication skills are desired. Some evening hours will be required.
Assist students in determining educational and career goals.
Plan and implement student recruitment and retention activities.
Assist with student supervision and reporting student progress.
Maintain contacts with area high schools; the Workplace Learning Connection, Kirkwood Adult High School & Alternative High School program; and other appropriate business, agency, and community organizations.
Conduct group and individual advising sessions with any or all Kirkwood students.
Serve as liaison between faculty, students and school districts.
Coordinate student orientation and registration process.
Assist with the creation of college planning and career development material.
Visit classrooms and provide college planning and career development information.
Correspond with area guidance counselors and principals.
Assist in formulating and implementing marketing and communication plans.
Assist with student advocacy.
Implement academic and employability assessment instruments.
Access Kirkwood programs and support services for college planning and career development activities.
Assist with A.D.A. services to eligible students.
Coordinate and deliver career development and workplace readiness courses and workshops.
Perform other related work duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Marketing, Communications or related field required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
Must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
Minimum of three years in an educational setting preferred.
