The Patient Account Specialist II requires expertise knowledge of all aspects of medical insurance billing and patient accounting. The position completes daily insurance verification/authorization for proposed services and patient notification for estimated payments due. This position also develops and assists with implementing policies and procedures related to the revenue cycle to ensure the quality of billing functions and system to optimize reimbursement and cash flow.
Bachelor’s degree and two years business experience in a clinical setting or the equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Patient billing, Medicaid and insurance experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred
Two years' experience with healthcare claims
Strong personal computer literacy required including working knowledge of relevant software packages such as Microsoft Office, Access, and Word. Familiarity and experience with practice management and patient accounting systems such as MedSynergies and eClinicalworks preferred
Ability to work with large amounts of data, including checks for integrity, summation, and effective communication to internal and external constituents
Organized and effective at dealing with many activities simultaneously; strong planning and organizing skills required.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently
Demonstrates the highest degree of accuracy and readability for all work and team projects
Uses, protects, and discloses patients' protected health information (PHI)only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
