| Founded in 2012, Ariadne Labs is a joint center for health systems innovation at Brigham & Women's Hospital and the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Our mission is to design, test, and spread scalable solutions for better care at the most critical moments in people's lives everywhere. Our work has produced simple interventions to enable better care in childbirth, surgical care, and serious illness, and is already achieving enormous impact nationally and internationally. We are growing rapidly as a result - from 15 staff and researchers in 2012 to more than 70 today working on projects across the U.S. and the world, with a budget of more than $19 million. We anticipate that the organization will continue its growth trajectory and plan to make a substantial investment in expansion of our early-stage project portfolio.|
Ariadne Labs' work is focused on a variety of clinical problems, and three newly established centers of expertise, known as platforms. Working in close partnership with clinical leaders, the platforms (Innovation, Science & Technology, and Implementation) provide thought leadership and project guidance at every stage of work (research and design, testing, and spread) based on their unique capabilities. Each platform is responsible for:
Creating a community of experts, both within Ariadne Labs and through external networks, to support the work of the organization
Providing mentoring and guidance to enhance progress of projects -- from research to intervention design to testing to spread -- and ensure the quality of work at each stage
Directly contributing to project work in close collaboration with clinical leaders
Establishing and spreading ideas and best practices across projects, the Ariadne Labs community, and the broader health care world
Our core values are: respect for the Ariadne Labs mission, our community, each other, and ourselves; stewardship of our work and resources; pursuit of excellence, with a focus on continual improvement; a belief in a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to our work; and a commitment to meaningful diversity and inclusion in our work and in the Ariadne Labs community.
Characteristics of leaders who are most successful at Ariadne Labs include: Humility about the limits of one's own expertise and experience, intellectual curiosity and agility, openness and generosity, self discipline, and service orientation.
Ariadne Labs seeks a Director of Science and Technology. The Science and Technology group comprises a diverse team of fifteen, including software developers, statisticians, an epidemiologist, and qualitative and quantitative research methodologists, and provides thought leadership and critical execution support for incorporating the sciences of measurement, improvement, and implementation in all of Ariadne Labs' projects. These foundational capabilities are critical to the delivery of Ariadne Labs' mission -- to design, test, and spread scalable solutions for better care at the most critical moments in people's lives everywhere.
Duties and Responsibilities will be continued in the "Additional Information" section of this posting.
