The Meredith W. Morgan Eye Center at the School of Optometry provides service to more than 80,000 patient sittings per year. A large number of these patients need glasses or contact lenses. Patient Services Assistants work with patients who wish to make appointments for services or fill prescriptions. The successful applicant will possess excellent communication skills, enjoy working as part of a team of health care professionals in meeting a wide range of vision care and optical needs from a highly diverse patient population.
This is a Part-Time, limited appointment.
Provide front-line support and helpful correct information to patients of the Optometry Clinics. Staff the reception desk using a computer system to make appointments and retrieve information. Provide general information regarding vision insurance, spectacle frame and lens choices, and the Eye Center (such as location, access routes, etc.) Provide customer service (e.g. report status of spectacle Rx order). Provide back-up reception support to the administrative office. Staff cashiering workstations.
Skill and ability to navigate a computerized database (Compulink is used).
Knowledge of vision care terminology and concepts, optical products and processes and vision insurance.
History of providing excellent customer service to patients/clients.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Salary & Benefits
Salary Range: $16.85 - $17.17 per hour This position is not eligible for UC Benefits.
