We are seeking an exceptionally talented individual with a drive for innovation to join our Enterprise Big Data & Business Intelligence team at OHSU. Working closely with Data Scientists and our Big Data Solutions Architect, the Big Data Engineer will evaluate, design, develop, test, deploy and maintain our big data platform. This role requires demonstrated hands on experience building large-scale data processing systems, data warehouse solutions and proven success in implementing database technologies.
This position will be responsible for data and systems architecture in support of OHSU's Big Data initiative. This person will work closely with other BI team members, data scientists, researchers, healthcare professionals and other key stake holders to design and architect systems and solutions that will address various Big Data opportunities and requirements within OHSU. This will include delivering new systems and solutions as well as maintaining these items once implemented. This person will also be involved in setting the development standards and monitoring compliance of other individuals working within these systems.
The architect role is responsible for data modeling, metadata management, and data stewardship, as well as planning, identifying and building an optimal Big Data environment. This will be accomplished by developing a clear understanding of current needs and identifying appropriate technical solutions while delivering a usable data product quickly and efficiently. The big data solutions architect is responsible analyzing requirements, proposing technical architecture solutions as well as implementation, testing, and deployment of the proposed solution.
The person in this role must possess technical development knowledge related to NoSQL systems such as Hadoop applications like HBase, Spark or SolrCloud, or other distributed systems as well as being well versed in the Java software development process and Hadoop toolchain or comparable toolsets.
This position is also responsible for detailed technical analysis to assure the availability of systems managed by BIMD. This will include availability for rotation through an after hours on-call support model as needed for upgrades, project go lives or to provide ongoing support of new systems that may have 24x7 support agreements. This will require a broad knowledge of OHSU BI systems and workflows.
