The Database Administrator II works independently to design, monitor, tune, and maintain Carilion Clinic's database environment. In addition to high skill with database technologies and utilities, an administrator at this level is responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of all databases. An administrator at this level is expected to have strong interpersonal and communications skill and be able to mentor other team members. This level administrator must demonstrate an ability to lead and manage mid-sized enterprise projects and mentor junior database administrators.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or equivalent of 5-years of relevant experience
Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or equivalent or 5-years of current database administration experience. Minimum 3 years active Oracle 11g and 12c experience; Oracle Certified Associate (OCA), preferred. Minimum 2 years active Microsoft SQL 2012 and 2014 experience; Microsoft SQL Server Certification, preferred. 2 years InterSystems Cach DB specific to Epic EMR, preferred. Knowledge of Oracle RMAN, Oracle ASM, and Oracle DataGuard management, desired. Minimum 1 year of experience in IBM AIX, RedHat Linux and/or Windows Operating System, preferred. Ability to write and optimize SQL queries. Ability to work in a high-availability, high-performance, large database environment. IBM Tivoli Storage Manager TDP and client experience, desirable. Basic Korn, Bash, Perl, VB Scripting, and PHP scripting, desirable. Microsoft Office application such as Office, Access, Project, Visio, SharePoint

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be creative and innovative. Must be able to adapt to changes, and help resolve conflicts. Research new technologies and provide input. Keep all required a)certifications up-to-date. Completes and maintains documentation of a minimum of 40 hours of pertinent continuing education each year Maintain close contact with everyone on the Storage Team and be aware of all ongoing projects and provide support, guidance and resources as necessary. Work closely with TSG staff, especially the IT teams to accomplish TSG and Carilion Clinic goals. The team member will be required to carry a pager-cell phone and will need to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation. The job requires onsite work including additional off-hours work and does not allow work-at-home schedules. Travel is required occasionally.
