On-call Recording Arts Technician

Synthesize, mix and record music, voices and sound effects for music department productions. Provide a recorded master for archival purposes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Record events
Select and set up and recording equipment.
Monitor incoming feeds to ensure quality.
Determine approach to effectively meet objectives within budgetary constraints.
Mix and regulate sounds inputs and feeds.
Compress, digitize, duplicate and store audio data.
Meet with clients to discuss needs and plan event.
Reserve needed space and equipment.
Plan recording sessions with department.
Make sure volume and recording levels are set correctly; make adjustments as necessary.
Safely and efficiently operate recording equipment; make repairs as necessary.2. Deliver master audio recording for archive
Process recordings and, according to best practices, make these available for archiving.
Archival master will have the name of the concert, pieces performed, artist or artists, and the logo of the university and department (information to be taken from the program for the event).3. Other duties as assigned.GENERAL GUIDELINES1. Recommends initiatives and implements changes to improve quality and services.
2. Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices.
3. Maintains contact with customers and solicits feedback for improved services.
4. Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives.

Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors degree, associates degree or vocational certificate. Two to three years of recording experience, including live performances.
Salary Information: $17.80 per hour
