The Assistant Director for Scholarships is responsible for assisting with the coordination and selection of recipients for the University's $5M+ in endowed scholarship programs, compiling and analyzing the data necessary to make appropriate selections, producing results documents to continue the promotion of fundraising for scholarships, and assisting with events that connect donors and recipients.
The Assistant Director is responsible for the management and development of external scholarship resources (foundations, corporations, etc.). The Assistant Director works collaboratively with the Associate Director for Scholarships to coordinate with Advancement and the colleges to ensure accurate awarding and reporting of all endowed funds.
Working with the Associate Director for Scholarships, the Assistant Director represents Student Financial Services when working with other University offices to recruit, enroll and retain students for select scholarship programs including Torch, University Scholars, Ujima and all Boston programs.
The Assistant Director advises and counsels a caseload of special scholarship undergraduate students/families on the availability of financial aid, the delivery process for receiving it, and the reconciliation processes required to insure that financial aid funds are transferred to student accounts. The Assistant Director reviews student applications, perform verification procedures, review/evaluate appeals, and intercede for students with participating departments (deans, CSC, registrar, co-op).
Working with the Associate Director, the Assistant Director trains and supervises undergraduate day financial aid counselors including the Scholarship Counselor and other professional, clerical and student staff as needed. The Assistant Director also trains other campus staff including Admissions, Enrollment Management Contact Center, Community and City Affairs, etc. on policies and procedures relating to the administration and processing of endowed and special scholarships.
The Assistant Director is responsible for monitoring scholarship students' academic progress and chairs the Student Financial Services scholarship appeals committee.
The Assistant Director contributes to all shared Student Financial Services and Enrollment Management goals and manages special projects and initiatives as requested.
Bachelors degree required. Masters degree preferred. 3-5 years experience in student personnel administration, financial aid required. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of Title IV regulations, federal and institutional need analysis. Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Knowledge of PowerFAIDS, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access required.
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population.
