The Enterprise Information, Integration & Analytics unit (EIIA) at the University of Washington (UW) provides consistent and reliable architectures, guidelines, standards, tools, and services for data analysis, design, modeling, management, delivery, and integration of institutional data. In addition, the EIIA group manages, develops and maintains institutional data resources, including the UW Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and UW Web Services (UWWS) to provide information for decision-making through central business intelligence (BI) products and tools.
EIIA is currently seeking a Communication and Training Manager responsible for building awareness and adoption of central data, information and analytics through communication and training. This senior position on the EIIA team is in charge of planning, creating and delivering communication and training to help the University leverage the strategic value of its centrally-housed information assets. The Communications and Training Manager directly supports the roll-out of new features and enhancements to data structures, web services, business intelligence tools, and analytics. Through coordinated activities with communication and training programs in other UW units, this position will also help direct the discipline of training across UW as a cornerstone to the success of our services and products.
This position offers the unique opportunity to be part of a professional, experienced team creating central resources for the University as we expand our content and services. It requires expert familiarity and experience in the full range of communication and training strategies, implementations and tools; data warehouse and web services design methods; data analysis capabilities, and knowledge and experience in software development lifecycle processes. The candidate must understand organizational business objectives and processes, then coordinate the design and implementation of training solutions for data analysis and information delivery systems.
Lead creation and execution of UW-wide data warehouse, web services and analytics communications and training programs
Create and maintain end-user documentation, including primary responsibility for content development and publication on the UW Data & Analytics website (http://itconnect.uw.edu/work/data/)
Prepare, deliver and coordinate the delivery of training materials for: formal classroom-style sessions; self-help online training; on demand videos; one-on-one and train-the-trainer style sessions
Enhance usage of Learning Management System to deliver training and track usage
Manage the EIIA Special Interest Group and the UW Tableau User Group
Work with the EIIA user support group to understand potential training opportunities and build tools in support of those
Analyze communication campaign results to understand efficacy and inform future communications
Analyze database and business intelligence usage logs to understand user activity generated by communication and training efforts and amend programs as needed to influence awareness and adoption
Define, coordinate and manage metrics reports, including all usage statistics and return on investment indicators
Bachelor's degree in Education, Information Science, Information Management, or related field.
Minimum of five years' experience performing progressively more complex and responsible tasks involving education and technical management in information management environments.
Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities.
Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Excellent leadership, presentation, communication skills, including experience in giving executive briefings
Demonstrated knowledge of principles of adult learning and education
Proven experience with curriculum development and delivery
Proven expert experience with web services, data warehouse industry standards, data modeling and design techniques
Hands-on experience with content management systems (CMS), including WordPress
Familiarity with coding and publishing content using standard html
Experience with tools and technologies for producing online training content, including eLearning and video production
Knowledge of multiple business subject areas, i.e. Human Resources, Finance, Purchasing, Student, etc.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience with Tableau and or Microsoft Reporting Services
