TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION IN MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY
The Department of Chemistry at Wake Forest University expects to fill a tenure-track position to begin Aug. 2017 at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry and are expected to have a strong commitment to both teaching and research. The position requires teaching chemistry lecture and laboratory courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, contributing to medicinal chemistry curriculum development, and establishing a vigorous, externally supported research program involving graduate and undergraduate students. Applicants with research interests in the areas of synthetic medicinal chemistry or a chemical biology approach to drug discovery are particularly encouraged to apply. We are a Ph.D. granting department whose mission is to lead in undergraduate and graduate education and research ventures that extend beyond the traditional boundaries of chemistry. In 2017, WFU will begin offering a new interdisciplinary degree program (B.S in Chemistry with a Concentration in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery) and anticipates offering new degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Engineering that will be housed at a new state-of-the-art 120,000-sq.ft. facility in the Wake Forest Innovation Quarter (http://wakedowntown.wfu.edu/) in downtown Winston-Salem, one of the fastest-growing urban technology innovation districts in the United States.
