The office Disability Access Services is seeking a Interpreter 1. This is a part-time (.49 FTE), 9-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Disability Access Services Director
The Department of Disability Access Services invites applications for a part-time ASL/English interpreter to provide equal or equivalent communication access for Deaf/hard of hearing students.
These services are in support of the Disability Access Services mission of accessible programs and services for students, faculty, staff and visitors with disabilities at Oregon State University, as required by State and Federal laws.
The purpose of Disability Access Services (DAS) is to provide equal access to higher education for students with disabilities. The position supports the Division of Student Affairs by actively incorporating the campus compact commitments into the daily activities of service delivery and program support. The services are designed to be supportive, ensure compliance, and promote the development of student self-advocacy skills while maintaining fundamental academic and technical standards of the University. DAS’s processes are designed to be purposeful, open, just, disciplined, caring and celebrative. DAS serves the mission of OSU by providing access and educational opportunities to a population historically disadvantaged in higher education: students with disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
Typically requires Bachelor's Degree and/or state or nationally recognized interpreting certification. IPP graduate within 3 years of starting position.
Requires strong proficiency in English and American Sign Language.
Willingness to learn subject-specific vocabulary as necessary for specific assignments.
Ability to work well both independently and cooperatively as a member of a team.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and problem-solve.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to work hours that correspond to students’ schedules, including evenings and weekends.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU STANDARD 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the Criminal History Check Requirement.
Will be required to go anywhere on campus including Laboratories and other restricted area’s.
Salary (Minimum): $47,820
Salary (Maximum): $81,372
Additional Salary Information: $23.00 - $39.12 hourly
