Essential Duties :
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Search will remain open until filled. First consideration will be given to applications received by October 11, 2016. Second consideration may be given to applications received by October 31, 2016. Applications received subsequent to the second consideration (October 31, 2016) may not be given full consideration.
This is an academic year, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with appointment August 2017.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the university's Aquaculture and Fisheries program, establish an externally funded research program, and develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
Develop a vibrant research program in sustainable aquaculture that is supported by extramural funding.
Develop a sustained record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Teach an interdisciplinary general education course (i.e., "Grand Challenges" Course) and other courses that will enhance both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the College of the Environment and Life Sciences (CELS).
Provide advising and research mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students.
Engage in service activities and governance within the College, University, and broader scholarly community.
Division of major responsibilities during the pre-tenure period is generally as follows: research (50%), teaching (40%) and service (10%).

1.Ph.D. or D.Phil. in Aquaculture, Biological Sciences, Fisheries, Environmental Science, Conservation Science, or closely-related fields (must have degree in hand at time of appointment August 2017).
2.Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement as shown by publications in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at scientific meetings, honors, and/or awards.
3. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
4. Demonstrated strong oral communication skills in English.
5. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills in English.
6. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
1.Teaching experience and/or mentoring experience at the undergraduate or graduate level.
2.At least one year of postdoctoral research experience at time of application.
3.Demonstrated ability to develop an independently funded research program in sustainable aquaculture as shown by research statement or previously funded grants and/or awards.
4.Demonstrated ability to work with the aquaculture industry and multiple stakeholders.
5.Demonstrated interest and experience in field research.
6.Demonstrated interest and experience in research addressing the environmental and sociocultural effects of aquaculture.
7.Demonstrated interest and experience in interdisciplinary collaborations for the study of aquaculture systems.
8.Demonstrated interest and experience in making research findings accessible to a broad audience through outreach, social media, and other mixed media outlets.
